The Eleventh Day of Christmas (and Poetry Friday)

It’s The Eleventh Day of Christmas (and Poetry Friday), so today I’m giving away a signed copy of my picture book poem, Red Light, Green Light.

I wrote this picture book when my son was learning to drive. He needed 100 hours of driving time so I sat in the passenger’s seat of our car for quite some time!

Red light, stop.
Green light, go.

Cars and trucks
drive to and fro.

The journey is my husband’s commute to work – but it’s illustrated with toys! (When I read this book at schools the kids always notice the dinosaur on the tollway!)

School Library Journal said, “The flowing text rhymes and has a good pace and rhythm, which makes it an ideal read-aloud for transportation fans.”

After reading the book, kids can make a traffic light necklace.

Today’s 12 Days of Christmas Book Giveaway winner is Donna Elder. I’ll send Donna a signed copy of Red Light, Green Light.

Congratulations, Donna!

I think this book would be perfect for my daughter’s preschool class. I will put it on my list to get for my day to share a book. I love using books to teach children. It is one my favorite methods no matter the age.
